  • The Advocate: This story on recruits from the Katrina-era received a Top 10 placing in Category A of Explanatory writing in the 2023 Associated Press for Sports Editors annual contest and Honorable Mention feature by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association. It features interactive maps that tell the story of where football players were replaced, and what drew them “home,” to LSU, even if they hadn’t lived in Louisiana for most of their lives.

    The story of 2023 No. 2 overall MLB Draft pick, Dylan Crews, received first pace college feature in Class 1 of the Louisiana Sports Writers Association's annual contest in 2023. My story on LSU pitcher Ma'Khail Hilliard from the year before received second place in feature writing, and my story on Paul Mainieri not taking the head coaching job at Notre Dame received honorable mention honors in the breaking news category.

    My column on Addison Bockover, a young fan who found solace in watching LSU baseball after a traumatic brain injury, received third place in the sports column category of the Louisiana Press Association.

    Steamboat Pilot & Today: The story of a lengthy high school state tennis match, which outlasted every other match at the tournament. This won first place in the Colorado Press Association’s annual newspaper contest for best Sports Event story in 2019 (story from 2018 season).

    The Gazette: “Hawk Off the Press” podcast received first place by the Iowa Newspaper Association in 2022. It is now hosted by John Steppe.
